Celebrating the life of

Ida Lou Dalziel

December 03, 1928 - August 25, 2015

Ida Lou Dalziel

Ida Dalziel, 86, died at home August 25, 2015.  She was born in Ware Shoals, South Carolina, on December 3, 1928, to John Asa and Lillie Henderson Davis. She put her dedication and skills to work as a church secretary at  three churches, the last being The Lutheran Church of the Ascension in Savannah.  She served as youth director at FUMC, Dublin, Georgia.   Ida was known for her enthusiasm, love of her family and flowers, and her strong faith. As all her friends know, Ida was small of stature but great of spirit.  When the American hostages were released by Iran in 1981, Ida climbed into the bell tower of The Lutheran Church of the Ascension.  She rang the bell 52 times - once for each hostage.  Each pull of the rope lifted Ida off the floor.  She will be greatly missed.

Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Charles, her daughter Patsy (Al) Beall of Atlanta, son Chuck (Mary) Dalziel of Atlanta, six grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.  Visitation will be at Fox and Weeks Islands Chapel in Savannah from 11-1 p.m. on Friday, August 28th. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 29th, at 11:00 a.m. in Ware Shoals, South Carolina, at Poplar Springs Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Morrow officiating.

Dear Charles, so sorry to hear of the loss of your sweet Ida. I know she is singing with the angels, and praising our Lord in song as she loved to do while she was here with us. May your grief and sadness soon be replaced with the years of love and happy memories. May the Lord continue to bless you and give you peace and comfort at this time.

Aunt Ida always brightened the room with her presence. She seemed to enjoy every minute of life. If you asked her to sum up her life, we can imagine her saying: "I had a ball!" It is our hope that the love and joy that she had for her family will be a source of comfort in the days to come.

- Guy and Sandra Dalziel Hendley, Etowah, NC

Aunt Ida was a great source of strength, wisdom and humor to all her family. May you all find comfort in each other and in your memories of her. There is a grief too deep for tears. Love and prayers for Uncle Charles, Patsy, Chuck, and all those who knew and loved her. Dickie and I will be there to mourn with you in Ware Shoals.
