Oscar-LA- Mrs. Floerl Christie “Chris” Rougon of Oscar, Louisiana, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, August 25, 2015. Mrs. Rougon was born in Jacksonville, Florida to Charles Cuthbert Christie and Edith Rose Martin Christie on April 27, 1930.  She grew up in Chatham County, Georgia and graduated from Marlow High School in Effingham County, Georgia in 1947.  She attended Andrew College in Cuthbert, Georgia.  While working at the Federal Bureau of Investigation Headquarters in 1951, she married Charles Aubin Rougon, then an engineer at

Anacostia Navy Yard in Washington, D.C. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and the Daughters of Scotland.  While living in Slidell, Louisiana, she was Regent of the St. Tammany Chapter of the DAR, organized the Jean Lafitte Society of the Children of the American Revolution and the Westchester Estates Garden Club, and was a Cub Scout den mother.  She also formed the Mountain Brook Garden Club in Huntsville, Alabama, and was its first president.  She attended the First United Methodist Church in New Roads, Louisiana.  She was an avid reader, enjoyed listening to music, and loved dogs and nature.  Her hobbies included traveling and renovating houses.

Mrs. Rougon was survived by a daughter, Rosemary Rummler (Jens); a son, Joseph (Elizabeth Jewell);  seven grandchildren, Peter Rummler (Stacy Huff), Ursula Jones (Wesley), Jens Aubin “J.A.” Rummler (Elizabeth Milligan), William Rummler (Elizabeth Treichler), Vivian, Zoraïde, and Joseph Rougon, III; eight great-grandchildren, Caroline, Harrison, Olivia, Martin, Gemma, Evelyn, Theodore, and George; a stepson, Aubin Luecker (Susan); a step-granddaughter, Meredith Luecker, a sister, Judith Christie Geruntino; nieces, Julia Labatut and Janet Trahan; nephews, David and John DeLong; and her dear longtime friends, Marilyn Jasmine, Myra Buller, Donald Roy Zeno, Thelma Winter, James Ladmirault, Glynn Strate, and Terri Daly Wilson.

She was predeceased by her parents;  her husband Charles Aubin Rougon;  a sister, Mary Christie DeLong; and a half-brother, James Joyce Humphries. Mrs. Rougon's family extends special thanks to Leshonda Williams, Samantha Thomas, Geneva Becnel, Carla Box, Cindy Zeno, and Cheryl Hebert.

A graveside service will take place on Saturday August 29, 2015 at 2 pm in Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah, Georgia.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Louisiana United Methodist Children and Family Services, 904 DeVille Lane, Ruston, LA 71270, or to Heifer International, 1 World Avenue, Little Rock, AR 72202.
