Lynn Carroll Cole Marston

TYBEE ISLAND – Lynn Carroll Cole Marston, 69, died Monday, November 2, 2015, at Memorial Health University Medical Center. Lynn was born Lynn Carroll Cole on September 2, 1946 in Columbia, South Carolina, the daughter of Robert Burns Cole, Sr. and Helen Broome Cole. She was a graduate of Eau Claire High School in Columbia, South Carolina and the University of Georgia Banking School. She worked in the Banking Industry in Savannah for over 20 years, and then in the court system in Savannah.  She retired in 2008 as the Deputy Senior Clerk of Superior Court in Chatham County.

Lynn and her husband of 22 years, James (Jim) Blaine Marston III, lived on Tybee Island amongst many beloved friends.  She was a wonderful wife, mother, friend, neighbor, and co-worker.  She was known and loved for her many talents, including singing and painting.  Lynn fought a very hard fight against brain cancer; she was preceded in death by both her parents, Robert Burns Cole and Helen Broome Cole; by her eldest sister, Ann Cole Smith, and her sister Rebecca (Becky) Cole Ebert.

She is survived by her devoted husband, James Blaine Marston III, of Tybee Island; her daughter, Ashlee Waldron Farris, son-in-law, Kenneth M. Farris and her granddaughter, Kayleigh Farris of Savannah; her son, Joseph Grove Waldron III and daughter-in-law, Caitlin Dyckman of Greenville, SC; her brother, Robert (Bobby) Burns Cole, Jr. and sister-in-law, Nancy Randolph Cole of Columbia, SC; her sister, Pam Cole Smith of Columbia, SC; and by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and many other relatives.  Those who knew Lynn loved her greatly, and appreciated her amazing capacity for love, kindness, and understanding of people of all walks of life.

Services will be held at Fox and Weeks on Whitemarsh Island on Thursday, November 5th, 2015.  Visitation will be from 4 – 6 pm, with a service to immediately follow.  There will also be a celebration of her life at the American Legion on Tybee on Saturday, November 7th, 2015 at 2 pm.
