Ronald Lewis Marky

July 04, 1934 - November 10, 2015

He strived for precision and perfection in everything he did

Ronald Lewis Marky

SAVANNAH - Ronald Lewis Marky, 81, our beloved husband and father died Tuesday at his home. He was born on the Fourth of July, 1934 in Buffalo, NY and lived outside Philadelphia, PA for most of his working career.  He retired to Savannah 24 years ago.  Ron was an avid fisherman and love spending time on Lake Erie with his brother, sons and nephew.  He was also an accomplished table tennis player who rarely lost a match before he taught his sons everything he knew about the game.  He strived for precision and perfection in everything he did and loved the many trips he took with his family and friends across the country and the world.

Ron was a member of the U.S. Army and worked in the Pentagon in the early 1950’s.

He worked in the railroad industry for over 30 years starting with New York Central, Penn Central and finally Conrail. He retired as an Assistant Comptroller of Conrail in 1989 at the age of 55.

He was predeceased by his father George Marky, his mother Tessie Kopankiewicz Marky and older brother George Marky.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Naomi, of Savannah, his sons David (Diane) of Wilmington, DE and Russell (Heidi) of Charlotte, NC; 4 grandchildren, Christopher, Caitlin, Jackson and Cameron; his sister-in-law Frances Marky; 8 nieces and one nephew.

The family will be mourning privately.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a future date and time.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the USO (www.uso.org/donate) or The Landings Military Family Relief Fund (https://www.facebook.com/Landings-Military-Family-Relief-Fund-LMFRF)

Dear Naomi, Russ, and Dave- I know we were all shocked and saddened at the news of Uncle Ron's passing but I can only imagine what this is like for all of you. I will always cherish what a warm, funny, lovable and vital man he has always been. I know it was a blessing that it was sudden for him because he would have hated to go through a prolonged decline like my dad. However, it didn't give you time to be prepared (as if we ever are) and we all feel cheated losing someone so still full of life and humor. I wish we could have sent another case of Naomi's favorite chardonnay and a good fish fry or Lobster thermidor and a hug over some tall fishing stories. We will get together for that when you are ready but I hope you got the arrangement in the meantime. We are all thinking of you and let us know what we can do. Love, Sandy Marky

- Sandy Marky, Medina, NY

I'm so very sorry to hear the news. Please let me know if you are coming north on the future for a memorial- we would love to be there.
