Sandra Augustine Dennis

SAVANNAH – Sandra “Sandy” Claire Augustine Dennis, died on Thursday, November 19th 2015 surrounded by her family, children and grandchildren. She was born January 26th 1945 in Columbia, South Carolina; she was the daughter of the late Lester and Ellie Augustine.  She lived in many different states until settling down in Savannah, Ga in 1976 where she set her roots and raised her children.

She received her Associate’s degree from University of Washington, Bachelor’s degree from Savannah State University and Master’s Degree from University of South Carolina.

Sandy was president of her children’s PTA, Islands YMCA Board President, heavily involved with Lutheran Church youth group, Taught Art lessons to seniors and youth, Involved with the Boy Scouts of America and  retired from Chatham County Health Department as a Social Worker.

Surviving is her brother and sister in-law Wane and Val Augustine, brother in-law Jim Davis, Son and daughter in-law Keith and Kim Dennis, Daughter and son in-law Tiffany and Neil Lancaster, grand children, Chloe and Chelsea Dennis, Madisyn and Trace Lancaster.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Saturday, November 21st at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel, 4605 Highway 80 E, Savannah, GA 31410.

The Funeral Service will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, November 22nd at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 51 Wilmington Island Rd, Wilmington Island GA, 31410. Burial will follow at Bonaventure Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes continued support for the Cindy Roof Wilkerson Foundation at 1108 Baywater Drive, West Columbia, SC 29170. Gifts may also be made through PayPal online at www.crwilkersonfoundation.org.

Our office was saddened to hear about the sudden loss of Sandy. She was well loved by everyone at the Community Care and Services Program, where she worked with us until her retirement. Sandy was a special lady who brought a lot of laughter to us. We will be remembering all of you in our prayers.

Keith, Kim and Girls.... I didn't have the pleasure of knowing Sandy but I heard so many beautiful stories about her from your family and friends. Without a doubt she loved and adored each of you. Sandy was a treasured co-worker of mine for many years with the Chatham County Health Department. She had a smile and laugh that would light up a room. She had a heart of gold and a passion for life.
