Lois Cooper Haslam
February 23, 1926 - December 14, 2015
SAVANNAH - Lois Cooper Haslam died on December 14 at home. She was a native and a life-long resident of Savannah and a parishioner of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, Wilmington Island.
Her husband, J. Harry Haslam, Sr., her parents William K. Cooper, Sr. and Gladys Cooper Walston, her sisters Helen Mixon and Maude Cooper, her brother William K. Cooper, Jr., and her great granddaughter Charlotte Haslam preceded her in death.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Velma Haslam Walters and Ronald Walters, and son and daughter-in-law J. Harry Haslam, Jr. and Kimi Haslam, all of Savannah. She is also survived by daughter and son-in-law Ann Haslam Mason and Robert Mason of Asheboro, North Carolina. She is survived by nine grandchildren, John and wife Laura Haslam, Ryan and wife Amber Haslam, Mark and wife Kate Haslam, all of Savannah. Three other grandsons and their wives, Ronald and Elizabeth Walters of Bitburg, Germany; Patrick and Maile Walters of Kilauea, Hawaii, and Christopher and Anne Walters of Corning, New York. Grandson Robert E. H. Mason of Asheboro, North Carolina, as well as granddaughters Emilee and her husband Matthew Baxter of Atlanta, and Kathryn Hoffman of Savannah, also survive. Lois is also survived by great grandchildren Claire and Brooke Haslam; Nathan, Thomas and Sophia Haslam; Charlotte and Caroline Walters; Tamriko Walters, and Ella and Peyton Baxter, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 16th from 5:00 to 6:30 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel, with a rosary service from 6:30 – 7:00. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, December 17th at 10:00 o’clock at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. Celebrant will be Monsignor P. James Costigan. Burial will follow in the Catholic Cemetery of Savannah.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that remembrances be made to Hospice Savannah; Our Lady of Confidence Carmelite Monastery, Savannah; St. Vincent’s Academy or Benedictine Military School.
