James Marion "Jimmy" Hendrix

James Marion

James M. “Jimmy” Hendrix, 73, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at his residence under the care of Gentiva Hospice surrounded by his family.

Jimmy was born August 12, 1942 in Savannah, son of Charlie Darvie and Amanda Williams Hendrix. He attended Jenkins High School and was a veteran of the United States Army. Jimmy retired from Port City Metals as a sheet metal mechanic. He was an avid fisherman, loved country music and most of all enjoyed his four grandsons. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Frank Hendrix of Savannah and Tony Hendrix of Statesboro.

Surviving are his wife, Carol Tinsley Hendrix of Savannah; son, James M. Hendrix, Jr. and his wife, Diane of Statesboro; daughter, Lacy Hendrix Allen and her husband, Austin of Savannah; sisters, Betty Lowe and her husband, Wayne of Warner Robins; Joyce Hendrix of Savannah; Collette Manes and her husband Robert of Richmond Hill; Pam Stone and her husband, Neal of Savannah; sister-in-law, Geri Hendrix of Savannah; grandsons, Brett, Tyler and Justin Hendrix of Statesboro; Carter Allen of Savannah and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

The memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 26, 2016 in the Hodgson Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors conducted by Reverend Derward Poole.
