Stetson Fleming

Sidney Stetson Fleming, III died Monday, March 7th at home with family and under the care of Gentiva Hospice.  He was born in Tampa Florida and was the son of Kathleen Saussy Fleming Brittain, Sidney Stetson Fleming II and Stepfather Karl Brittain. Stetson was born in Tampa Florida and lived most of his life in Savannah Georgia where he graduated from Savannah High School.  He then attended the University of the South at Sewanee, University of Georgia and graduated with a degree in accounting.  He was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity.

He served in the US Army Signal Corps in Europe before following his grandfather Charles Walker Saussy’s example and became a Certified Public Accountant in Savannah and Augusta Georgia.

In Augusta, he was an active volunteer in the Boy Scouts, receiving its highest award for volunteering. He attended St. Paul's Episcopal Church where he was a member of the choir. He volunteered with the YMCA and coached Youth Soccer.  He taught sailing at the Savannah Yacht Club as a young man.  He loved the outdoors, sailing, camping, tennis and hiking with his family.

After moving back to Savannah he attended Christ Church and St. Thomas Episcopal Church where he again joined the choir and continued to enjoy his lifetime love of music and church.

He is survived by his wife Linda Bedingfield Kelly-Fleming, children Stetson Austin Fleming, Kevin Knox Fleming, Kathleen Fleming Howard, Robert Ennis Jr, Ansley Ennis Carver, Julia Kelly Rodgers and grandchildren Chapman and Mary Butler Fleming, Daniel, Bailey and Charles Howard, Sheldon and Jack Ennis, Will and Robert Carver and Eleanor Rogers, his nieces and nephews, Marie Fleming Booker and Kathleen Fleming Morgan, Britt Fleming and Will Fleming. He is predeceased by brother Charles Joachim Fleming and stepson William Raiford Ennis.

Services will be at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Isle of Hope, Savannah at 11 a.m. Friday March 11th with reception immediately following in the Social Hall. Interment will be at Greenwich Cemetery.

In Lieu of Flowers, contributions to St. Thomas Episcopal Church would be appreciated.
