Celebrating the life of

Louis Gustavo Bufalini

December 15, 1934 - March 12, 2016

Louis Gustavo Bufalini

Louis Gustavo Bufalini (Buff), 81 of Savannah, entered into eternal rest after a long illness on Saturday, March 12, 2016 surrounded by his loving family at Hospice House in Savannah, GA. Born December 15, 1934 in Watertown, NY, Louis was the second child of four to Louis N. and Dorothy W. Bufalini.  After graduation from high school in 1953, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he would remain for twenty years until retiring as a Master Sergeant.  While stationed at HAFB Louis met his Georgia Peach, Tina Slappey and they married on March 8, 1957.  After that he denounced his Yankee status and became a southern gentleman.

Louis served during the Vietnam War and several other tours of duty overseas.  Following retirement from the Air Force, Louis and his family returned to Savannah where he went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Law from St. Leo College of Florida and continued his association with aircraft by working at Gulfstream Aerospace for twenty years, until retiring as Manager of the Computerized Maintenance Program department.  Louis was an avid golfer and found so much pleasure in it that he took a job at Hunter A.A.F. Golf Course working in maintenance and eventually the clubhouse until he had to retire because of Lung Cancer in January of 2014.  Louis loved the game of baseball and watching his beloved Atlanta Braves.  He was a member of the BPOE Elks Lodge #183 and was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Louis is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Tina Bufalini, a son: Mark Bufalini, wife Kaye Bufalini, a brother: Vincent Bufalini, wife, Sophie Bufalini, grandchildren: Andrew Bufalini, wife, Caroline, Corey Bufalini and step-granddaughter, Lacey Mizell. Louis now joins his beloved parents, his sister, Joyce Egan, and brother, Rocco Bufalini in eternity.

A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel, with full military honors. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice House of Savannah.
