Celebrating the life of

Stuart Grady Knight

April 22, 1926 - March 15, 2016

Stuart Grady Knight

Savannah- Stuart Grady Knight was in his home surrounded by family when he quietly passed on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 after a sudden decline in health. He is survived by 4 children and their families, including 8 blessed grandchildren. He was predeceased by his true love, Connie, whom he courted under the Candler Oak.

Stuart was born in Savannah April 22, 1926 to WT Jr and Grace Knight. He was an avid lover of flight; from model aircraft, numerous Cessna’s, to gliders and dreams of piloting a hot air balloon.  He loved telling stories of his adventures with family and friends; hiking the Appalachian trail, cruising the Blue Ridge Parkway hoping to see a bear, searching for shipwrecks in the Keys, or just having fun going on boat rides to see dolphins. He had a special gift for using humor to put people at ease, and even the night before he died was telling his famous Berma Shave road sign story.  He and Connie were charter members of White Bluff United Methodist Church.  Members of the community knew Stoodie as the behind the scenes bookkeeper who brought WTOC into the computer age.  Introducing others to personal computers was one of his passions, with establishment of the SCDS computer lab as his biggest accomplishment in that pursuit.

Visitation: Saturday, March 19, 2016 from 3pm-5 pm at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

Funeral service: Sunday, March 20, 2016 at 1 pm, White Bluff United Methodist Church immediately followed by burial at Bonaventure Cemetery.

When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight. ~Kahlil Gibran

Some of my earliest and favorite memories are of the Stuart and Connie Knight extended family - including a first ride in an airplane, a table of firecrackers explosion, carpet tube cannons, and many tales well told. As a small child, Stuart was the first adult to talk to and to question me like I was an adult. Ideas were important to him, no matter their origin. Stuart was such a great affirmer of other people, it is good to know that a bit of him lives on in all the many people he nurtured and loved.
