Marilyn Lancaster Clifton
December 01, 1940 - April 21, 2016
Savannah, GA - Marilyn Lancaster Clifton, 75, passed away on April 21, 2016 due to complications from a stroke in Savannah, GA where she has been living with her sister for the past 8 yrs. She was born December 1, 1940 in St. Augustine, Florida, the daughter of Hugh and Margret Lancaster.
Marilyn grew up in St. Augustine and graduated from Ketterlinus High School in 1958. After high school, she attended Florida State University where she received a degree in education in 1962. That same year she married and started her family. A consummate mother, Marilyn is survived by her three daughters, Debbie Perez, Cindy Diaz, Karen Pina, and their three husbands; her two grandsons, Fernando Perez IV and Matthew Carwile; her sister, Carol Wallace, and the rest of her loving family, and host of friends.
Marilyn enjoyed being of service to others and in service to the Lord. She volunteered at the Inner City Night Shelter, attended Bible Studies, served as the backup church secretary, and read scriptures for the Sunday church service. Anything you asked her to do she did it with much love and conviction. She recently proudly graduated from the School of the Laity of Savannah Presbytery. In addition to being in service in faith, she loved her family. She enjoyed gardening and cooking, a passion all who knew her got to enjoy.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on April 23, 2016, at Wilmington Island Presbyterian Church, 450 North Cromwell Road, Savannah, GA 31410, with a reception to follow immediately after. Dear Marilyn's "girls" and family, Your Mom was a dear, sweet friend who I met many years ago in a bible study. After hearing about the homeless women with whom I worked, she jumped right in and began helping them with meeting ALL of their needs. She greeted them with a smile, offered prayer in addition to clothes and toilitries, and was a comforting presence in the midst of their painful circumstances. She then joined a few of us at Bible Study Fellowship and Community Bible Study when our previous study ended. We shared a hunger for staying grounded in the word but she surpassed all of us by completing her theology course. God does prepare a place for us and your Mom wanted to be prepared for her place with God; perfect timing! Heaven is rejoicing with the addition of her spirit. I was not aware of some of the challenges she endured but was not surprised that she carried on in life with that same loving and enthusiastic approach. I never heard her complain, say something negative or blame anyone about her life's circumstances. She loved you all with her whole heart and frequently spoke of her family, including her deceased family members. She was so very proud of all of you and deservingly so. God bless and comfort all of you as you live out your lives in the manner which she would expect from her extrodinary family. Sincerely, Laurie Noonburg

Mark always talked about Aunt Marilyn the whole 25 years I knew him, but I really didn't get to know her until he was gone. Glad she has been there to help hold things together ever since. She will be missed greatly.
