Sally "Sandra" Gray Drews
September 28, 1938 - April 22, 2016
– Sally Sandra Gray Drews, 77, died April 22, 2016 under the care of Hospice Savannah, in her childhood home during a gentle Spring rain at Isle of Hope.
She was born September 28, 1938 in Savannah, GA and lived in many places across the United States before settling back in Savannah in 1991. She attended the Isle of Hope School and then Catholic Boarding School. She worked in the Fashion Industry throughout most of her life. She will forever be remembered by her loving family for her ability to share the beautiful side of life as well as teaching that everything is going to be “copacetic”. She lived her life with joy and excitement for adventure. She left this world sharing her full intention of loving kindness and grace. She was of Catholic Faith.
Preceding her in death were her loving parents, Mary Jane and Andrew Gray; and her loving Aunt Thelma Sharpe Kinsey Paxton and Uncle William Kinsey who raised her and took wonderful care of her; her husband, Lauren “Butch” Drews, daughter Kay Burrage Fielder and son-in-law Tommy Swearengin.
Surviving are her daughters, Elaine Swearengin of Deatsville, AL, Donna (Bo) Krauss of Savannah, GA; her grandchildren Tommy Joe (Jennifer) Swearengin, Jr., Brandy (Bryan) Martinez, Shannon (Kenneth) Shanks, Connor and Zachary Krauss and Great-grandchildren Michael and Jared Hicks, Brooklyn and Andrew Shanks, Levi Swearengin and MacKenzie Guidroz as well as her cousin Al (Nancy) Templeton. Also very special friends Beth (Bruce) Kelly, Pam Caldwell, and Cindy and Corey Lattimer.
The family would also like to thank special friends Billie and Frank Guzman, Billy and Jenny Quick, Wayne Allen and Tonya Vansickle for their care and friendship through the years as well as Carol Register, for her enduring love and support.
The family will hold a special celebration of life at a later time.
Interment will be at Bonaventure Cemetery.
The family suggests remembrances be made in her memory to Hospice Savannah, St. Jude Children’s Hospital or your favorite charity.
