Celebrating the life of
David Precht
January 17, 1934 - April 25, 2016
Richmond, VA - David Precht 82, died on April 25, 2016 at Westminster Canterbury Richmond under the care of Hospice of Virginia. Mr. Precht was born in Savannah Georgia, where he graduated from Savannah High School. After earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech and serving in the Army, his first job was with the Savannah Electric and Power Co. Subsequently, he worked most of his career in Massachusetts with projects taking him to Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Twice he also visited the birthplace of his grandparents in Germany. Mr. Precht spent his retirement years in Savannah painting, playing golf and volunteering at the Savannah Public Library. He was a lifetime member of the German Friendly Society, was a member of Friends of the Library, and served as an usher at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in downtown Savannah. The last year of his life was spent at Westminster Canterbury Richmond where he was loved deeply and cared for by the staff there.
Mr. Precht is survived by his wife Sandra S. Precht of Arlington, Mass., six children Susan M. Precht of Macon, Ga., Lori A. Lindsey of Dallas, Tx, Audrey D. Michel of Plano, Tx, Karen P. Childers of Powhatan, Va, Anna L. Fischer of Pompano Beach, Fla, David N. Precht of Watertown, Mass, three grandchildren Eric L. Torres of Fort Worth, Tx, Ehren L. Torres of Webster, Tx, Johnathan D. Precht and one brother Henry Precht of Bethesda, Maryland.
Services will be held on Friday April 29, 2016 at 2pm at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
Memorial gifts may be made to St. Paul’s, Friends of the Library or the German Friendly Society.
I am sorry to hear of the death of mr precht. I know his children loved him a lot. I miss them and all my loved ones who are hopefully in heaven someday we'll all meet again with peace love and harmony. thank you jesus for making it possible. rest in peace David,Pop,Mama, uncle Herman,Bobby and Clarence. also Ozella Bless you all and comfort the family. sincerely.
