Celebrating the life of
Julia "Julie" Ann Barrett July 27, 1923 - December 26, 2019

Julia (Julie) Ann Barrett died on 12/26/2019 at The Oaks at the Marshes of Skidaway Island at age 96.

Julie was born in St. Joe, Missouri, and lived in many locations before relocating to The Landings in Savannah, Georgia. She enjoyed 3 different homes at The Landings and loved the social scene there. During her life at The Landings, she served as President of Land Lovers, Chaired the 1989 Flea Market, and was an early female member of the Kiwanis club. In addition, Julie gave freely of her time, mentoring at the Hesse School, and working as a youth advocate for children with the court system. Julie not only gave her time, but also provided financial support to a student from the Ukraine in her aspiration to pursue her dreams in Marketing at Savannah State, and also sponsored a child from Guatemala for many years.

Julie had an intense desire to travel the world and was fortunate to realize her dreams, by visiting most every continent with style and grace.

Julie made a strategic decision and became the second person to commit to the new community at The Marshes of Skidaway. Her foresight enabled her to secure one of the most desirable units with its overlooking view of the Intercostal Waterway, which she enjoyed until her move to the Oaks Assisted Living Community.

Julie was an exceptional artist and was most proud of her work designing greeting cards for Hallmark and Norcross early in her career in NYC. Julie studied with Ann Balbernie in Wayne, PA, and with Tony Couch, a nationally known watercolorist from Stone Mountain, GA. Her artwork is amazing. She was gifted with pastels and watercolors, while specializing in florals.

Surviving Julie, are her daughter Sandie and wife, Eileen, son David and his wife, Bonnie, son Brian, son in-law Michael Koppenhafer, and grandchildren, Leslie Koppenhafer, Kelly Priceman, and Ian Riddell. Julie was fortunate to meet her Great Granddaughter, Oliva Judith Priceman, shortly before her death.

The Funeral Mass will be at St. James Catholic Church on Tuesday, January 14 at 11am.

Interment will follow at in Greenwich Cemetery, 330 Bonaventure Road, Savannah, GA 31404
