Mary "Bet" Broderick McCormick
September 02, 1933 - May 17, 2016
Savannah- Mary Elizabeth “Bet” McCormick, 82, passed away Tuesday, May, 17, 2016 at Memorial University Medical Center. She was born in Savannah to Dr. J. Reid Broderick and Marie Tellers Broderick. Bet was a graduate of St. Vincent’s Academy and Mercyhurst University. After returning to Savannah she taught English in the public school system and St. Vincent’s Academy. She was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Joseph McCormick and brother, Dr. J. Reid Broderick, Jr.
Surviving are her son, Billy McCormick; sister, Margaret Broderick Mathews, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 19, 2016 with a Rosary Service at 5:00 p.m. at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 20, 2016 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Catholic Cemetery.
The family has suggested that remembrances be made to St. Vincent’s Academy, 207 W. Liberty St. Savannah, GA 31401 or Benedictine Military School, 6502 Seawright Dr., Savannah, GA 31406.
Dear Billy and Family, We are just learning of Aunt Bet's passing now. Please accept our belated, but heartfelt condolences. She was a wonderful human being, and will never be forgotten.
