Marcheta B. O’Kelley, 63, died Thursday, May 19, 2016 at Coastal Carolina Hospital after a short illness. She was born December 13, 1952 in Demorest, GA to the late Ellis Robert and Violet Webb Ballew. Marcheta attended Westley Monumental United Methodist Church. She began her working career with Gainesville College, then worked in Washington, DC for Congressman Ed Jenkins as a Congressional staff member. After moving back to the Savannah area, she worked for over 22 years with Gulfstream Aerospace, retiring as the Director of Contract Management. After retirement from Gulfstream she worked in the Development office at Palmetto Bluff as the assistant to the chief executive officer.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers, Tommy Ballew and Reid Ballew.

Surviving are her husband, Robert V. O’Kelley of Bluffton, SC, daughter and son-in-law, Terri and Ronny Kittle of Athens, GA, two grandsons, Judson Kittle of Athens, GA and Zachary Kittle and his wife Callie of Charlotte, NC. Also surviving are her sister, Ramona Stowe of Demorest, GA, sister-in-law, Zebbie Ballew of Cornelia, GA, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel with Dr. Ben Martin officiating.

Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

Remembrances may be made to the Palmetto Animal League, 56 Riverwalk Blvd., Okatie, SC 29936 or the American Cancer Society.
