Leveta O. Barnes

Leveta O. Barnes, 86, died May 20, 2016 at home under the care of Pruitt Health Hospice, surrounded by her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was born January 17, 1930 in Sylvester, GA and lived in Savannah for most of her life. She was a member at Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents James Rutland Oliver and Laura Whiddon Oliver, a brother J.R. Oliver, and a sister Lavelle Oliver. Surviving are her husband William N. Barnes of 68 years, her sister Laverne Pendley, sons Freddie Barnes (Teresa), Gibson Barnes (Ann), David Barnes (Clara); daughters Janice Tomberlin and Sandra Bazemore (Buster). She had 11 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Sunday, May 22, 2016 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 23, 2016 in the Hodgson Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors.

Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
