Ltc. (Ret.) Ronald George Weiher, born Dayton, OH in 1932, was the son of George and Irene Weiher. Ron attended Chaminade High School class of '50 and is best remembered there at the helm of his swing orchestra “Ron Weiher and his Band.”
Ron graduated from the University of Dayton, class of ’55 on an ROTC scholarship with a degree in Music Education. He received his commission in the U.S Army in ’55 and spent 24 years on active duty with honor and distinction. He served during times of war and times of peace. His service took him to Korea, to war-torn Vietnam, and to Berlin during the building of the Wall. He was advisor to the Shah in Iran and to Generals at Ft. Benning, Ga.
Ron is survived by Julia, his wife of 57 years; their daughters Leslie and Catherine; son David and daughter-in-law Symantha; grandchildren Jackson, Leanna, and Sylvia; sister Sylvia Hill; travel companions Gerry and Eddie Fouche; brother-in-law Patrick Mullins and his wife Jan; and many nieces and nephews.
General MacArthur famously said “Old soldiers never die, they just fade away.” Ron Weiher faded quietly away at his home in Savannah GA. after a long illness related to his courageous service to Country. He was 84. He will be laid to rest with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at Fox and Weeks, Island Chapel, Wilmington Island in Savannah, GA. on Thursday June 2 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM.
Mass will given the following day in remembrance at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, Friday June 3 at 10:00 AM.

Stan and I had the pleasure of meeting Ron at their home for one of Ron's famous meals. Always hospitable and a pleasure to talk to. Judy told many a story about "The Colonel " He was a special Hero, Father, Husband and Man. Marla and Stan.
