Celebrating the life of
Jean Owen Brown
April 04, 1929 - June 01, 2016
Jean Owen Brown
Jean Owen Brown 87, died June 1, 2016 in Savannah, GA. She was pre-deceased by 2 older brothers, Owen, Jr. and Charles, and son-in-law, William "Danny" Burroughs.
Survivors include daughter, Julia Brown Dey (Joseph Dey), son, Herbert Owen Brown (Carmen Brown), grandchildren, William Burroughs (Lauren), Daniel Burroughs (Erin), Elena Brown, great grandchildren, Garrison, Haven, Adalynn, William, and Brynlee Burroughs.
Despite the fact that she lost her mother at the tender age of 14, she thrived in high school serving as a cheerleader and on the yearbook committee. That yearbook was just the beginning of a lifelong love of writing. And was she ever prolific, composing editorials on subjects ranging from politics to space aliens. Yes, she had a wonderful wit and sense of humor.
She loved Billy Graham and lamented that there weren't more men of God like him. But most importantly, she loved the Lord and she taught us about Jesus and His love for us. She will be sorely missed, but we rest assured knowing we will see her again.
Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Christ Church Presbyterian in Evans, GA.
My sincere condolences to the Brown Family on the passing of your dear loved one. May Jehovah God, the God of comfort grant you his peace while you await the fulfillment of his promise at John 5:28(to resurrect those who have been asleep in death. May fond memories of Jean linger in your hearts and bring you peace in the days to come.

When I saw her obituary I thought I recognized her as a prolific writer of letters to the editor over the years. I believe I may have met her many years ago. My condolences. I admired her.

I hope you treasure this photograph of her. I wish I knew more about her but her face tells me a lot. She was strong, determined and had a quick wit and great brain. Something about her photo made me want to put her picture in a museum (next to Mona Lisa) Something in that picture…gave me pause. I wish I could have met her. My heartfelt sympathy to the family.
