Bobbie S. Anderson

October 28, 1922 - June 28, 2016

Bobbie S. Anderson

SAVANNAH – Bobbie Sumner Anderson, 93, died Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at her beloved Isle of Hope home under the care of Gentiva Hospice. Mrs. Anderson was born in Ty Ty, GA on October 28, 1922, the daughter of the late James M. and Pearl Shiver Sumner. The Red Anderson tradition began on October 1, 1943 when she and her husband, Red, opened their first business, a watch repair shop at the old Liberty Bank Building. The business began during the years of WWII when parts and material were hard to come by so many of them had to be handmade by Red. This dedication to customer satisfaction led to the expansion of Red Andersons Jewelry business. In April of 1969 they and their two sons moved their business to the fine jewelry department of Belk Department Store which was a part of the new Oglethorpe Mall. It is at this location the store began offering the sale of fine jewelry and watches, as well as appraisal and custom design services

Mrs. Anderson was also civically involved, being a member of the Alee Shrine Ladies Auxiliary and the Greeterettes. She was a faithful member of Immanuel Baptist Church and was part of the Good Neighbor Sunday School Class. Mrs. Anderson is survived by her son, James M. “Jimmy” Anderson of Savannah; her daughter, Juli A. Cox and husband Gene of Newington; her daughter-in-law, Janice Anderson of Richmond Hill; seven grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, L. M. “Red” Anderson, and two sons, Robert W. “Bob” Anderson, Sr. and infant son, William Christopher Anderson.

The Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2016, at Immanuel Baptist Church with Dr. Morgan Kerr officiating.  The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Dillon Cox, Robert Anderson, Wil Anderson, Drew Anderson, Devon Anderson, and Caleb Ake.

Private interment will follow in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park.

Remembrances: Immanuel Baptist Church, the Morris Slotin Fund, c/o Alee Shrine, P.O. Box 14147, Savannah, GA 31416, or Gentiva Hospice, 2280 East Victory Dr., Suite A, Savannah, GA 31404.

Dear Jimmy, Julie and Families: We are sad to hear of the passing of sweet Bobbie. She was a perfect southern lady, always gentle and kind to all. We have great memories and wonderful stories together. Jimmy, I've been so proud of you and your attentiveness to your Mother. I always told you that one day you will be so thankful you were able to be there for her daily. You were always so caring and took great care of her these last years. She was blessed. Bobbie was the perfect wife to Red, they had many happy years together. Bobbie will always be missed but we will all hold our precious memories of her close in our heart. We send our sincere love and sympathy. Always love because HE first loved us! Sandi and Alan
