Annazell "Ann" Davis Hansen

Annazell “Ann” Davis Hansen, 82, passed away on August 7, 2016. A true Texan, she was born on September 26, 1933 in San Antonio, directly across the street from the Alamo. She was preceded in death by her parents, Colonel George Davis and Mrs. Annazell Davis Her early education consisted of attending 13 schools in 12 years, including high school in occupied Japan after World War II. She later attended the University of Texas, graduating with a BA with honors in Speech Pathology before doing extensive graduate work in speech and hearing at the University of Pittsburgh. She worked as a speech pathologist in Hampton, VA, and numerous facilities in the Pittsburgh, PA area, most notably Children’s Hospital.

While raising her family in Hampton Township, PA, she volunteered for numerous community activities including Girl Scouts, President of the Hampton PTA, and as a Republican committeewoman. Ann loved her final employment as a docent at the Pittsburgh Carnegie Museum, where she gave tours, including the outstanding dinosaur exhibit. Upon moving to The Landings, she volunteered at the UGA Marine Education Center.

Ann is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Helm Hansen, her daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne Herbert and William Herbert, her son and daughter-in-law, Helm Hansen and Lynn Hansen, and three very special grandchildren, Meredith Herbert, Will Herbert, and Helm E. Hansen.

A visitation will be held Friday, August 12, 2016 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

The graveside service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 15, 2016 at the Georiga National Cemetery, 2025 Mount Carmel Church Ln., Canton, GA 30114.

The family suggests remembrances be made in her memory to the Humane Society for Greater Savannah, 7215 Sallie Mood Drive, Savannah, GA 31406.
