Elizabeth "Betty" Eure passed away Monday, August 29, 2016.

She was born on February 3, 1930 to Arthur and Bertha Bennett in Savannah, Georgia. She worked at the Savannah Board of Education and then moved to a position at the Chatham County Health Department. Betty became a Certified Public Manager in 1982 and was Administrator of the East Health District of Georgia until her retirement in 1990. After retiring, she and her husband, J.C., moved to Ames where she helped raise her grandchildren. She was affectionately known as "Minnie" to her grandchildren as well as many children in the neighborhood. Betty enjoyed gardening, watching youth sports, reading and playing piano. She was an active member in the Heartland Baptist Church. Betty was very active in volunteer work and used her skills at piano to help bring peace to elderly patients in daycare and nursing home facilities.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Betsy (Tom) Moorman of Ames; her sons, Danny Eure of Savannah and John Eure of Laguna Beach Calif.; her grandchildren, Leslie Moorman, Zach Moorman, Tara (Barry) Smoak, Leslie (Ben) Frye, Jessica Nunnally, Chad Eure (Jackie), Brett (Jocelyn) Eure, Ashley Eure and Keely Eure; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Crawford Eure in 1998.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, September 8, 2016 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

Graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 9, 2016 at Bonaventure Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the American Cancer Society, Shriners Hospital for Children.org or Make a Wish Foundation.
