Patsy “Pat” Ann Moore passed away at home in Savannah, Georgia on September 16, 2016 at the age of 72.

In great love, she is survived by her grandchildren Haigh Angell, Carlton Angell, Frazier Angell, Patricia Moore, Robin Moore and Anna Moore along with many nephews, their families, and a niece. She is preceded in death by her husband Phillip “Phil” Steven Moore of Dallas, TX; her mother Sarah Louise Koonce of Dallas, TX; her father Walter Wayne Koonce of Dallas, TX; and her brother Cecil Javon Koonce also of Dallas. She is also survived by dear friends Diana McCraffrey of Dallas, TX; Liz McCaffrey also of Dallas; Anita Clay of Savannah, GA; and Margaret Clay also of Savannah.
Pat was born in Dallas, TX on November 22, 1943. She graduated from W.W. Samuel High School and received a Bachelors of Social Sciences from North Texas State University in Denton, TX. She married the love of her life Phillip “Phil” Steven Moore when she was in her early twenties. She went to work in the family business, The Home Craftsman Company, with her husband Phil and her brother Cecil doing the books, HR and helping manage the finances until Phil’s death in 1987. Then she had a career as a real estate mortgage broker until 2008. From 2009 until right before her passing, Pat became a docent at the Harper Fowlkes House that she always referred to as “her” house. She truly loved that home. Per her wishes, her ashes will be scattered around the Harper Fowlkes House garden.
Pat came from a lineage of very strong women and was accomplished professionally, but her grandchildren were whom she was most proud. Pat lived for her children and grandchildren. They were her light. Pat also loved to host family and friends, especially enjoying the accouterments of a well-appointed table. Her Thanksgiving dinners were legendary, second only to the love for spending time with her family and friends. Pat wasn’t shy about handing out trustworthy advice, and many are grateful for the time she made to share her mind and open her heart.
Her second family was the Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church in Savannah, GA. She was an active and dedicated part of her church and often volunteered. Around Asbury, Pat was affectionately known as “the desert lady” with Coconut Pie being her claim to fame. It also happened to be her pastor Billy Hester’s favorite desert. Pat was known to whip him up a pie whenever she could. She was committed to the Asbury Hospitality Team. It was the perfect outlet for her to continue to create and serve amazing dishes and enjoy people. Everyone who tasted her culinary talent will remember Pat’s contributions to the Wednesday Night Suppers, family funerals, and church events. The Hospitality Team took her under its wings and offered Pat the place to “be a star”. They loved her unconditionally, and likewise, Pat considered them family. Another aspect of the Asbury community Pat fell in love with was their Music and Theater programs. Pat often missed the rich music and theater culture she left behind in Dallas and was able to rekindle her relationship with the arts during her time with Asbury.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to her church family for all of the love and support they generously gave to Pat and her family over the years. She was blessed by her time there. The family would also like to thank Ginger Miles, who has lovingly cared for Pat’s two cats Simon and Sassy in her absence. Ginger has been a huge support to the family, and they are grateful.
A memorial service for Patsy “Pat” Moore is scheduled for Sunday, October 9 at Asbury Memorial UMC, 4:00pm, 1008 Henry Street, Savannah, GA 31401. The memorial will be officiated by Reverend Billy Hester. After the memorial, there will be a ceremonial spreading of the ashes at 5:30pm, officiated by Henry Clay, at the Harper Fowlkes House, located on Orleans Square at 230 Barnard Street. Immediately following will be a reception on site.
The family asks that contributions in memory of Pat Moore be made to Asbury Memorial United Methodist Church, Savannah, GA. http://asburymemorial.org
