Reginald Boyd "Don" Donaldson, Jr.
March 29, 1941 - November 13, 2016
SAVANNAH - Reginald Boyd “Don” Donaldson, Jr. of Savannah, Georgia, passed away on November 13, 2016, at the age of 75. He was born in Savannah to Reginald Boyd Donaldson and Marie Kuhlke Donaldson on March 29, 1941. He is preceded in death by both parents. Don is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ann Gill Donaldson, his daughter Cindy (Chris) Phillips, his son Jeffrey (Shari) Donaldson, his brother Glenn (Shirley) Donaldson, and his six grandchildren: Sarah Phillips, Elizabeth (Matt) Phillips Broullire, Will Phillips, Connor Donaldson, Andrew Donaldson, and Katie Donaldson.
Don graduated from Savannah High School before attending Brewton-Parker College. He then attended and graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts in History. After graduation, Don went on to attend the University of Georgia School of Law, where he further developed his passion for the university and its football program. Don also served in the Air National Guard of Georgia and the Reserve of the United States Air Force, from which he was honorably discharged. He began practicing law in Atlanta and shortly thereafter moved to Savannah for the remainder of his career, finishing his practice at Donaldson & Bell, where he practiced with his son, Jeffrey. Don was always dedicated and passionate about practicing law. He was a member of the Savannah Bar Association, the State Bar of Georgia, and the Francis S. Bartow Chapter of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.
Don was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Temple. Don was an avid scuba diver, often sharing dive trips with his wife, Ann, and his granddaughters, “the twins,” Sarah and Elizabeth. He was also a lifelong season ticket holder for Georgia Bulldogs football games and enjoyed frequent trips to Athens. Don shared his love for the University of Georgia with his entire family. Most of all, Don enjoyed spending time with his family.
The visitation will be held Tuesday night from 5:00-7:00 PM at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
The funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 11:00 AM in the chapel at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Interment will follow in Bonaventure Cemetery.
