GUEST BOOK

Papou nick was a very interesting man and very important in my life. Since I was 6 years old I have accumulated an abundance of fond memories that will always be dear to me. I now reflect on so many good times to celebrate his life. I remember as a little kid he used to let me get behind the wheel and tell me "you have to drive kid I got no legs" I felt so important. I can still taste the very special hot dog pizzas he used to make just for me. As I grew older we would sit on the patio for hours smoking cigarettes, drinking coffee and talking about the world and life. He was the easiest person to Christmas shop for every year he was so happy with a carton of cigarettes and pack of lighters. The little things haha. It was so great he was able to give my own baby a blessing while he was still alive and somewhat well. He will be forever missed and kept alive in our hearts. RIP.

Pappou Nick was my hero. He was the bravest, most intelligent, honorable man I've ever known. He was misunderstood by some but of course not everyone was lucky enough to really get to know him. He had the kindest heart. He was a day-dreamer. He spent so many of his days sitting in nature thinking about life. He belonged in the romantic age. His spirit was so resilient, time and time again he fought of terminal illness, and laughed in death's face. His time finally came when he wanted it to. He was so strong minded, no amount of pain, or anguish could ever truly bring him down. He had so much love for his family. I watched him cry over his children, and grandchildren because he felt he hadn't given them enough. I watched him cry out of love for all of us. He loved to read, he loved to watch western movies and he loved to eat fresh vegetables and beans. He was such a good man. My grandfather had grown up in a village, his family was poor and he had many siblings. His father put him to work at 12 years old and he continued to impress the world ever since. From fighting in the war in Cyprus and staying loyal to his country throughout, coping with his brothers death, sailing around the world becoming a renowned chief, to owning the tastiest pizza shop in CT he proved he was a force of nature. Of course, he saw his greatest success as becoming a beloved father and grandfather. While initially his relationship with his family was rocky, his daughter and son couldn't be more grateful for having him as their father. He had been through so much. Losing both his legs to diabetes and fighting off cancer and liver failure, he proved to be the strongest man we'll ever know. He spent so much time in the hospital, he had experienced delusions, comas, gone to the afterlife and back always returning with a smile for us. A man who held so much pride but would drop everything to hold his granddaughters hands, smile as wide as possible and act silly with her. I can still hear him saying "iiiiii LOVE you kidddddi" He was my heart. He remains in my soul. He is my wisdom for years to come. I love you so much grandpa. Words could never explain the amount of love and respect I have for you.
