Ann Patricia Harper Carter

Savannah- Ann Patricia Harper Carter, 74, loving wife of 51 years to Michael Joseph Carter, Sr., passed away peacefully on November 27, 2016.

Ann was a Savannah native, attended St. Vincent’s Academy class of ’60, was a resident at St. Mary’s after the passing of her Mother, and was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing class of ‘63. As a Registered Nurse, her career spanned 51 years where she did everything from patient care to acquiring medicine for indigent patients.  Ann loved her family, as they did her because she was a very loving and caring mother, grandmother, and wife.  One of her favorite hobbies was gardening and she became a Master Gardener.  She loved to cook and at one point she even opened a bread baking business with one of her close friends, Claire Krissinger.

She was preceded in death by her parents Robert John and Saretta Hazel Laves Harper, her brothers Dr. Robert Harper, Joseph Harper, Michael Harper, and Patrick Harper, her sister Joan Richards, and stillborn son Peter.

Ann is survived by her loving husband Michael Joseph Carter, Sr., children Michael, Cathy (Bill), and Robert (Shannan); Sisters Rita DeLorme, Mary Harper, RSM, Madge Harper, and Francis Wheeler; Brother Louis Waldhour (Harriet), Grandchildren Michael, Isabell, and Billy as well as several loving nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, November 30, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. followed by a Rosary Service at 6:30 p.m. at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 1, 2016 at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. Burial will follow at the Catholic Cemetery.

Please send any remembrances St. Vincent’s Academy or St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.

GUEST BOOK

Ann will be remembered as the kind, thoughtful person she has always been, the smile came freely and often. Ann's faith in God was evident in the way in which she lived her life and raised her children and her grandchildren. Her death has created a void, the memories have created a lasting love that will fill the hearts of those honored to share her life. Mike, Michael, Robert and Kathy and your families will be in our prayers as you travel this new journey. Ann wishes only her love for you and our Lord's Peace to fill your hearts, I am sure.

Dear Michael and the Carter and Harper Families, I am so very sorry to hear of Ann's passing. Ann and I were classmates and friends throughout our years at St. Vincent's Academy and St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing. We shared many wonderful experiences in the same nursing affiliation group in North Carolina, Pittsburgh and New Orleans with Onzell Bowen, Jean Sager and Mary Ann Furgal (Morelle). I always enjoyed seeing her again at our reunions in Savannah. Ann was such a gentle, kind lady and I know that she is surrounded now by angels welcoming her into her heavenly home. Sincerely, Martha Blessington- (Padilla)
