Mary Donaldson Brewton passed away Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Memorial University Medical Center.

Mary was born in Blackshear, GA on May 28, 1931 and was a long-time resident of Savannah. Most recently she lived in Savannah Commons but had been a resident of The Landings at Skidaway Island for more than forty years. Mary was an avid bridge player and achieved silver life master status. She was known for quick wit, her love of people and laughter. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Herman Benjamin Brewton, Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Brewton Whitaker (Stuart); son, Ben Brewton, III; two grandsons, William Matthew Blood and Christopher Brewton; brother, William B. Donaldson (Pat); nieces, Lisa Donaldson Blackwood (Lincoln), Patty Donaldson Ragan (Danny), Sheila Baker Allen (Don); nephew, Thomas Baker (Kathy), as well as several great-nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 7, 2016 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Mary will be laid to rest beside her beloved parents and sister in Blackshear Cemetery in Blackshear, Georgia.
