If ever there was a servant of the Lord, it was my dear Jean Callahan. She was always there for others but never wanted to be in the spotlight. She would provide food and comfort for anyone who needed it. Quietly working behind the scenes, she was active in all areas of our church ministry. She planned and orchestrated her Sunday School parties for decades. Whether it was for a week in Lake Junaluska or a few hours at Wesley Gardens she was always there, usually in the kitchen, working tirelessly so that others could enjoy their time together. Even when she was battling her own cancer, she worked in the church kitchen to be sure that my mother's celebration of life was everything it could be. She was my mother's dear friend and right hand. When my husband was ill for an extended period of time, she called me weekly to see how we were doing, always asking if she could do anything to help us. She was the best example of being a humble servant and living a Christ centered life. Our family loved her and she will be sorely missed. I will close with the words she often ended our phone conversations with, "alright then, bye bye". God bless you Jean and God's peace be with your sweet family!
