Harry Knutson

 

Harry Knutson died on February 24, 2017 while residing at the Marshes in Savannah, Georgia.

He earned a BS from Brooklyn Polytechnic University and a Masters from Stevens Institute in Chemistry. He interrupted his education to serve 4 years in the Navy as a radioman. He returned to City Island in 1946. In 1947 he married Ruth and they had 2 sons, Eric and Gary. He worked 40 years for Allied Chemical and became Director of Licensing worldwide. While serving with Allied in Japan, he was vice president of a joint venture with Mitsui Corporation. He loved the water, swimming, sailing and scuba diving. As an amateur geologist, he collected, cut and polished gemstones. He was actively involved in church serving on committees and teaching Sunday School. He is survived by his wife, 2 sons, 5 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
