Celebrating the life of
John Stuart Menzies
December 09, 1950 - March 25, 2017
Owner Creative Catering
John Stuart Menzies, born December 9, 1950, sailed into the sunset March 25, 2017. John navigated this world with his First Mate Amy. Their voyage began in beautiful Bradenton Beach, Florida. John loved children and they adored him, none more so than his daughter Lisa Smith and her son Jack Rester. John was so proud of his family. He graduated with Honors from the School of Hard Knocks, where he achieved a great sense of humor, an open mind, an optimistic spirit and a can-do approach to life. He is a shining example of how you can put people first, relax and enjoy life (He loved the haven he created for escapes to Daufuskie Island), but still work hard and run a highly successful business, Creative Catering. John has been a mentor to many, both inside and outside the catering world.
He will be missed by family, including Shirley Menzies, and by countless friends, coworkers and clients. He treasured his relationships with people from all walks of life and was especially proud of being made an Honorary Ranger.
He would love his legacy to continue through donations to the Rangers' Sua Sponte Foundation which supports local Rangers and families of the 1st. Â Battalion in their times of need, P.O. Box 60281, Savannah, GA 31420.
Snarly, we hope you're savoring this new adventure...no worries!
A Celebration of John's Life will be planned at a future date.
May the God of peace comfort you during this difficult time (Philippians 4:6,7). Take comfort in God's promise to do away with pain, suffering and death (Revelation 21:3,4). My condolences to the family.
- D Tucker, Locust Grove, GA
Dear Amy, Larry and I just learned of John's passing and cannot express how very sorry we are. John was such a special person and he made a huge impact on the lives of so many. I would always laugh because on any event we worked together on I was a nervous ball of energy and he was always so laid back. Larry and I considered John a friend and know that the world has lost a great friend to many. Our thoughts are with you and your family.
- Sally Silbermann, Savannah, GA

I will never forget John's words of wisdom to me. "He who has the most toys, wins." I always read between the line of this as, work hard and the rewards will follow. Those "rewards" could be in the form of material objects, travel around the globe or most importantly family and friends that love you. John defiantly had the most toys!
