Celebrating the life of
Anne Martina Roberts Sullivan
October 07, 1921 - May 11, 2017
Anne Martina Roberts Sullivan passed away peacefully on May 11, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband, James M. (Buddy) Sullivan. They were happily married for over 60 years. Anne was born October 7, 1921, the daughter of Mr. Martin Roberts Wilkins and Ellen Devonshire Creedon Roberts.
Anne grew up at 337 East Washington Avenue. She was a only child, and as a result convinced her father that not only she needed a pony, he should walk her to school daily. She graduated in 1940 from The Pape School. Anne made her debut in 1941. She graduated from Trinity College in Washington DC in 1944. Anne volunteered and eventually became a full time employee of Senior Citizens Inc. She worked many years in Social Work and help start the Meals on Wheels program in Savannah and Nationally. She also served on the board for the Fresh Air Home on Tybee Island.
Anne was involved in several clubs but she most enjoyed her association with the Chatter Club, the best place in Savannah to learn all the gossip. She would often be heard using her favorite saying Jesus, Mary, and Joseph during their meetings. She was involved with Junior League of Savannah and the Florence Crittenton Home for Girls. She was a member of the Quis Qui Sorority in High School. She loved horseback riding and won many awards for horsemanship. She won a National Propeller Club essay contest trip to England. As a sign of the times, she was not allowed to go as it was not proper for a young girl. Anne was a character and her colorful humor will be missed.
She is survived by her son, Martin Roberts Sullivan and his wife, Martha, daughters Bernadette Watkins and her husband Henry of Naples, Florida, and Devon Gaudry and son James Michael Sullivan III and his wife Monica. She is also survived by nine grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and more to come, who all lovingly called her Grannie Annie.
In lieu of flowers please send contributions to the Senior Citizens Inc or the Fresh Air Home of Tybee.
The graveside service will be private.

I am sorry for your loss. Jehovah is a God of comfort, and sees the things that bring us great pain especially when we lose a loved one to sleep in death. May you find encouragement from his word the Bible through this time, and allow positive memories to fill your heart and mind.
