Monica Hunt Golbey
August 20, 1946 - May 24, 2017
SAVANNAH – Monica Hunt Golbey, 70, died suddenly at home on May 24, 2017.
The much-loved wife of the late Robert Golbey, M.D., Monica was born in Coventry, England, and moved to the USA in her 20s to pursue a career as an administrator at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York where she met Bob Golbey. On his retirement they moved to Savannah where she embarked on an academic career, gaining an MA in American history at Armstrong State University, later joining the faculty there. In retirement she was a sought-after speaker at The Learning Center at the Senior Center, Inc. and the English Speaking Union of Savannah.
She was the elder sister of John, Michael (deceased), Gerard and Margaret, and an aunt to nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her friends in the UK and US, particularly at The Landings on Skidaway Island where she and Bob lived for many years.
At her request there will be no funeral service.

My sincerest condolences go out to your family, it's never easy losing someone in death. May you take comfort in God's promise found at Revelation 21:4, which says "he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” This verse brought me peace when I experienced loss, I hope it can do the same for you. May the memories you have give you strength during this difficult time.

Monica was great fun and such a strong person. She was a great influence on me in graduate school. I'm so grateful I knew her
