Michael M. Sancomb, Sr.
Passed away on May 29, 2017
Michael Moore Sancomb, Sr, 80, died Monday, May 29, 2017. He was born May 26, 1937 in Washington, DC. Michael was the owner of Tidewater Boatworks in Thunderbolt, and a member of the Forest City Gun Club. He was an avid Nascar fan, hunter, and fisherman. He loved his family and friends and always put them first.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Morgan and Beebe Sutton.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shirley Rotureau Sancomb, of Savannah, two daughters, Daina Sheffield (Christopher) of Savannah, Sharon Ballinger (Joe) of Helen, GA, and one son, Michael M. Sancomb, Jr. of Savannah. He is also survived by one brother, Patrick Sancomb of McIntosh County, GA., step-brother and sisters, Fred (deceased), Gus (deceased), Caroline, and Betsy, also eight grandchildren, Thomas, Brandi, Heather, Mandy, Morgan, Samantha, Brittany, and Michael III, and six great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Cayden, Chase, Landon, Savannah, and Clayton, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Fox & Weeks, Islands Chapel.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date in Bonaventure Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Dr. Gifford Lorenz, Dr. Dorsey Flanders, Fr. Patrick O’Brien, John Burke, Bob Mims, and Hugh Mahaney for their care and friendship.
Remembrances may be made to the American Lung Association.
