She arrived in the United States in 1949 under the refugee act signed by President Truman and dedicated herself to working and raising her three children in Webster, Massachusetts. She later moved to Poughkeepsie, New York where she worked as a housemother for student nurses at a New York state hospital. She has resided in Savannah since 1992. She lived to witness the collapse of Communism in 1989-91 and was able to visit her brother and sister and their families in Estonia on a regular basis.

Her final resting place will be in Tartu, Estonia at the family grave site with her parents and brother and sister.

A short memorial service will be held at the Fox & Weeks Hodgson Chapel, 7200 Hodgson Memorial Drive, on Friday, June 30, at 11 A.M.

In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to the Armstrong State University History Department General Account fund to help fund student activities.

GUEST BOOK

Dr. Arens, I offet my deepest sympathies and condolencrs on the loss of your beloved Mothet. May God bring you comfort and peace in your time of grief. Terri Brown Patillo, ASU, Class of 1983.

- Terri Brown Patillo, Savannah, GA

What a privilege to live such a long and full life! I can only imagine how much grief the family feels to lose someone who has been a part of your lives for so many years. Soon our Heavenly Father will show the depth of His love for mankind when He gives His son Jesus Christ the command to awaken those asleep in death to rise and live forever on a paradise earth where death will be no more, neither will pain and suffering.(John 5:28,29,6:40,44;Revelations 21:3,4) What a wonderful blessing and gift that will be! May this bring the loved ones comfort and joy until He fulfills this promise.

- Shay, ,

What a blessing to have had Ms. Arens with you for such a long time. God, through His word, The Bible, gives us the hope of "everlasting life ." How wonderful it would be to share an eternity with our dead loved ones! The resurrection promise makes that possible. (John 5:28,29) May the God who comforts us in All our trials be with you and your family during this time of sorrow.

- Sincerely, Nitha & Family , ,
