Hazel Wise Ronan

Hazel Wise Ronan,80, widow of Walter Ronan, passed away peacefully on July 2nd, 2017 after a yearlong battle with cancer.

Hazel was born on April 10, 1935 in Hyman, SC to Henry Chalmers Wise and Eliza Poston Wise.  She was educated in the Hannah, SC Schools.  She was a devoted wife and loving mother, dedicating her life to her family.  She managed to find the time and energy to complete the Master Gardener Program in Savannah, GA. This allowed her to pursue her passion of plants and flowers by volunteering at the Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens.

Hazel is survived by her daughter Marie Claire Ramirez and her husband Richard Ramirez, her son Robert Fisher Ronan, and her five grandchildren; Robert W. Ronan, Brian P. Ronan, Catherine R. Ramirez, Ryan D. Ramirez, and Matthew J. Ramirez, her sisters; Myrtis W. Leach, Ann W. Gaster, and Zula W. McAllister.

She was preceded in death by her brothers; Chalmers L. Wise, Clifford Wise, Ansel P. Wise, Harry W. Wise and William L. Wise along with her sisters Aline Turner and Beila I. Taylor.

Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, July 7, 2017 at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.

The funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 8, 2017 in the Hodgson Chapel of Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors.

Interment will follow in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park.

The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Northshore Hospice in Evanston, IL., the staff and residents of The Merion and a heartfelt thank you to her wonderful friend Floriseen Rose who brought love and comfort to Hazel and strength to the family.

I will always remember Aunt Hazel fondly, she was very loving and loved to tease. The pet name she gave me when I was a very young child was "mister Christmas tree". We laughed about that recently at a family reunion. My condolences to Bobby, Marie and family.
