Betty Denmark Durden

Mrs. Betty Denmark Durden, 89, wife of Ben W. Durden, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2019, surrounded by her family and friends.

Mrs. Durden was born in Bulloch County, Georgia, on February 9th, 1930, and received her Master of Cosmetology license at the age of 16. She continued in this profession that she dearly loved for 66 years, owning three salons in the Savannah area and retiring at the age of 82.

Betty loved the Lord and devoted her life to the service of others. She was the epitome of a selfless servant and led by example in everything that she did. She was a past member of the Bull Street Baptist Church and a beloved member of Windsor Forest Baptist Church.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she gave not only of herself, but her time and talents as well, to all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Solomon Brannen Denmark and Lillian Cora Denmark, her wonderful husband, Ben W. Durden Jr., son, Glenn W. Durden, and brother, Mallie A. Denmark.

Surviving are her son, Phillip W. Durden and his wife Mary S. Durden of Starke, Florida, her daughter, Dian D. Cannoles and husband Patrick E. Cannoles of Savannah, Ga, 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 2 nieces, 1 nephew, and several cousins.

The family will receive friends, prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 1, 2019 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel. Reverend Mark Gentry will be officiating. A graveside service will follow at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

The pallbearers will be son-in-law, Patrick E. Cannoles, grandsons, Glenn W. Durden and Benjamin R. Cannoles, and grandson by marriage, Travis D. Shoop, along with great grandsons, Matson W. Durden and Jackson D. Gardner.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Windsor Forest Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.
