Robert E. Schulz

Robert (Bob) Edward Schulz, of Savannah, GA died peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, August 9, 2017. Bob was born in 1932 in Brooklyn, New York. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, including combat operations in Korea, and upon his return attended night school to earn a degree in mechanical engineering. Bob resided in Connecticut until his retirement, moving first to North Carolina and later to Savannah, GA. He attended the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist and was a Fourth Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus Council 631. Bob was also an active member of American Legion Post #36, the Catholic War Veterans, an avid tennis player and loyal friend. He loved West Beach in Westbrook, CT, where his family lived, and Cape Cod.

Bob was a devoted brother, husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 60 years, Barbara. Bob was a devoted father to his children: Richard and his wife, Kathy, of Grifton, NC; his late son, Michael and his wife, Suzanne, of Savannah, GA; Lisa Mandt and her husband, George, of Sudbury, MA; David and his wife, Anne Marie, of Lititz, PA; and Eric and his wife, Kristen, of Newburyport, MA. He was very beloved by eight grandchildren: Katie, Amie, David, Erika, John, Lauren, Meredith and Patrick. Bob is also survived by his sister, Dorann Ricchetti of Port Orange Florida, Kathleen Pellegrino of Manhattan, NY, and many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his sister, Patricia Carro of West Islip, NY. Nothing gave Bob greater joy than his family, and he was incredibly proud of each of his grandchildren.

Mass will be held Friday at 10:30 am at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, with reception immediately following in the Knights of Columbus Hall, 3 West Liberty St. in Savannah, GA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ronald McDonald House, St. Jude Children's Hospital, Social Apostolate of Savannah or USO.

GUEST BOOK

May the God of all comfort and tender mercies be with you and your loved ones during this very difficult time.(2Cor1:3,4)

- UG, Pooler, GA

I am sorry for your loss. It's very painful when we lose a loved one to sleep in death. However, Jehovah is a God of comfort. A scripture I always find encouraging is Isaiah 25:8. There Jehovah promises to "swallow up death forever". He will also do away with all things that bring us pain. How satisfying that will be! I hope this thought has brought you comfort as well.
