Celebrating the life of
Alex Paul Ware
September 20, 1961 - October 15, 2026
Alex Paul Ware, 65, of Savannah, Georgia, passed away suddenly on October 15, 2026.
Alex’s capacity for love was boundless, encompassing his family, cherished pets, and lifelong friends. He is survived by his wife, Toni; his beloved furbabies, Loki and Pepper Potts; his sister, Bridget Federico (Sean, Dino); his brothers, John (Hannah) and Michael (Holly, Nicole, Kristi, Heather) and niece Ashley (Lily, Bear); and his found family, including his Second Mom Diane, daughters Erin of Colorado Springs and Kendra of Denver, as well as his brother from another mother, John of Colorado Springs and Florida, and his Work Wife, Amy.
Alex was preceded in death by his mother, Mary (Gooley) Ware of Savannah and father, Meredith Ware (USMC, Retired); his brother, Bryson; his Grandmum Mary and PopPop John Gooley of Savannah and Grandparents Helen and Charles Ware. He is also joined over the Rainbow Bridge by all his previous canine companions including Willow, Alfa, and Nicki, and one feline who was really a dog in a cat’s body. And Petey the rabbit.
Alex was born in Morganton, NC in 1961. He spent much of his early life in Savannah, including attending Blessed Sacrament Elementary School. Upon his father’s retirement from the Marine Corp while they were in Yuma, AZ, the family moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado. Following graduation in 1980 from Air Academy High School in Colorado Springs — during which he also attended college — Alex proudly served his country for six years as an Air Force Cop in the Air Force National Guard. Continuing to follow in his father’s footsteps, Alex later transitioned into the automotive industry, working in car sales before establishing a long and dedicated career with Ford Motor Credit, where he worked until his retirement.
Above all else, Alex lived a life rich in imagination, adventure, and community. He possessed a deep love for fantasy and spent more than 15 years as a cherished participant in the Colorado Renaissance Festival, rising through the ranks from Guard to the Prince of Ireland. The Faire was a place of immense joy for Alex—it was where he built a vast network of friends who became found family, and, most importantly, where he met the love of his life and wife of 23 years, Toni.
Alex’s love of pop culture and travel took him and Toni across the country to conventions in Colorado, Atlanta, Kansas City, Minnesota, California, and Arizona. Whether appearing as a Master Jedi, Lucius Malfoy, a formidable Viking Warrior, or authentically honoring his true nature and proud 3/4 Irish heritage, Alex brought immense joy and enthusiasm to every room he entered.
A memorial service to celebrate Alex’s life followed by a proper Irish Wake will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2026 at 4 pm at Flashbacks, 10010 Ford Ave. #B, Richmond Hill.
For his family and friends in Colorado, a Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 11, 2026 at 10 am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Denver, CO. A reception will follow hosted by Alex’s Sister Bridget. An informal wake will also take place in Colorado Springs on Saturday, December 12 around 8pm at Good Company Bar and Grill in Colorado Springs.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Alex’s honor may be made to the pet charity of your choice.
