Diane Marie Zinn Jurgensen, born July 7, 1940, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2026, at her home in Savannah, GA.
Diane dedicated her life to caring for others as a pediatric nurse. She was affiliated with St. Louis University and Cardinal Glennon Hospital, where she found great fulfillment in treating and caring for children in need. Her compassion and dedication to her patients were an important part of her life's work.
Three things held a special place in Diane's heart: her family, her country, and her faith. She was a devoted parishioner of the Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist in Savannah, Georgia.
Diane cherished her childhood years in Gainesville, Florida, and later in Fort Lauderdale. She grew up as one of nine beloved brothers and sisters, and the close bond they shared remained throughout their lives. She also treasured the many dear friendships she made throughout her life and the joy those friendships brought her.
Diane attended Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama, where she met her husband, Paul Francis Jurgensen, MD. She later earned her nursing degree from Palm Beach College in Lake Worth, Florida, and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Armstrong State College.
Diane was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul Francis Jurgensen, MD, and her parents, Charles Joseph Zinn, MD, and Mildred Joan Cooper Zinn.
She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Mooney and her husband, Kevin, of Longwood, Florida; her sons, Paul Jurgensen and his wife, Lisa, of Irmo, South Carolina, Stephen Jurgensen of Savannah, Georgia, and Neil Jurgensen of Savannah, Georgia; her grandchildren, Caitlin Mooney of Tampa, Florida; Brendan Mooney and his wife, Marissa, of Lake Mary, Florida; John Mooney and his wife, Cristina, of Chicago, Illinois; Daniel Jurgensen and his wife, Veronica, of Charlotte, North Carolina; Julianne Jurgensen of Charlotte, North Carolina; and Matthew Jurgensen of Aiken, South Carolina; and her great-granddaughter, Lily Jo Mooney of Lake Mary, Florida.
Diane will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her compassionate care for children, her love of country, and the strength of her faith. She leaves behind a loving family and many dear friends who will cherish her memory.

To me, Diane was a truly beautiful person – from the outside as well as from the inside. As Christoph's sister, I had the chance to meet Diane in my teenage years, and she inspired me to move through life with the same care, compassion, adventurous spirit, and humor she brought to everyone as a wife, mother, and friend. She had the rare gift of lighting up a room and making her conversation partner feel valued and appreciated. I still wonder how she managed to get all those birthday cards to Germany always right on time. :) We will miss her warm presence and loyal friendship dearly, and my thoughts are with Diane's and Paul's family.

Dear Juergensen/Zinn/Mooney Family, It is with deep sadness that we learned of Diane's passing. On behalf of my entire family, I would like to express our heartfelt condolences to all of you. For many years, the Juergensen family has been much more than friends to us. Whenever we visited Savannah, we were welcomed with extraordinary warmth, kindness, and hospitality. Those visits created memories that we will cherish forever. Diane and Paul devoted themselves to strengthening the friendship between Germany and the United States. Their commitment, generosity, and love for their German heritage left a lasting impression on everyone who knew them. We especially remember Paul's dedication as President of the German American Heritage Society in Savannah and the remarkable contribution/donation raised for the reconstruction of the Frauenkirche in Dresden. This was a truly admirable gesture and a meaningful symbol of transatlantic friendship. We also remember with gratitude the many occasions we shared together over the years. Diane and Paul traveled to Germany several times and became part of our family life. We were honored to have them attend our wedding and later the baptisms of our children. Their presence at these important moments meant a great deal to us and remains a treasured memory. Diane was a wonderful, warm-hearted, and gracious person. Her friendship enriched our lives, and we will always remember her with affection and gratitude. Although we mourn her loss, we take comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with Paul in heaven. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. May the many beautiful memories of Diane bring you strength, comfort, and peace in the days ahead. Since getting to know the Jurgensen family, we have shared many wonderful visits and sightseeing trips together in Georgia and throughout Germany, including Munich, Dresden, Duisburg, Meissen, and Franconia. We feel truly fortunate and grateful to have known Diane and to have experienced her warm personality and wonderful sense of humor. We will always cherish the memories of the kindness and hospitality that Diane and Paul showed us during our visits to Savannah. One of our fondest memories is the song "Give Me Five Minutes More," which will forever remind us of the joyful moments we shared together.
