Carolyn Sheffield Blakewood, age 88, of Savannah, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2026.

Carolyn was born on January 6, 1938, in Savannah, to Emory Leon Sheffield and Beatrice Willis Sheffield.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Robert “Bob” E. Blakewood; and two daughters, Lori B. Ogden (Bob) of Brentwood, TN, and Lisa B. Aliotta of Savannah; three grandchildren, Erin K. Ogden (J. Patrick Clifford, III) of Dallas, TX, Robert Blakewood Ogden (Michelle) of San Francisco, CA, and Brenton R. Aliotta of Savannah; and three great grandsons, John “Jack” P. Clifford IV, Owen Robert Clifford, and Robert James “Jamie” Ogden III; sister, Joan S. Pealstrom (Jerry) of Cumming, GA , and brother, Arthur E. Sheffield of Rincon, GA, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Emory Leon and Beatrice W. Sheffield; brothers, Emory L. Sheffield, Jr., and James W. Sheffield, and sister, Rosemary S. Burgess.

Carolyn graduated from  Commercial High School in 1955 and began her professional career at Southern Bell as a telephone operator, rising to the position of supervisor. She married and moved to Athens, GA  with Bob. After Bob’s graduation from the University of Georgia in 1961, the couple moved to Talbotton, GA. In 1963, Carolyn and Bob moved to Lakeland, FL where  Carolyn became a stay-at-home mother.

After six years, Carolyn and Bob moved their family to Starke, FL and became active members in St. Edwards Catholic Church, Starke’s Jaycees, and their Green Acres community where they made life-long friends. Never adverse to a challenge, Carolyn completed advanced business courses and held the position as secretary to the guidance counselor at Bradford County Vocational Technical School for over five years.

Returning to their hometown of Savannah in 1976, Carolyn and Bob reunited with family and friends and became members of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. Carolyn, ever determined and enterprising, earned her Georgia Real Estate License and launched a successful real estate career that lasted over 30 years. She was recognized with the prestigious accolade of Million-Dollar Producer, an accomplishment reflecting her dedication, professionalism, and commitment to her clients.

Carolyn was a lady of remarkable strength, determination, and Southern charm. She cherished her family and took great pride in the accomplishments and lives of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved family cruises and hosting gatherings with family and friends. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered for her love and steady presence in the lives of all who knew her. 

Carolyn’s family expresses their sincere appreciation to her exceptional caregivers Amanda, Kristen, and Candice, as well as to Ernesto of Hospice of Savannah, for their compassionate care and support. 

Visitation will be held at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors on Friday, September 18, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. followed by a Recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 pm.  

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Benedictine Military School Chapel, 6502 Seawright Drive, Savannah. GA, on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Greenwich Cemetery.
