Celebrating the life of
John Frederick Statts
May 07, 1948 - September 10, 2026
John Frederick Statts passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on September 10, 2026, at the age of 78 in Savannah, GA.
Known affectionately as "Papa" by his family, John lived a lively, loving, generous life full of exciting business deals, travel, philanthropy, and sports cars. As the son of a Coast Guard Captain, he grew up around the world and developed a particular fondness for Italy while living in Naples and spending time as a Little League baseball player. Later in life that love extended to family vacations, Ferraris, and F1 racing. The soundtrack of F1 Ferraris speeding around the track could be heard from his car stereo.
John enjoyed a successful career as a founding partner of investment consulting firm, Investment Performance Services, LLC, most recently serving as Chairman Emeritus and Senior Consultant. Founded in 1986, today the firm works with over 185 clients throughout the United States, representing over 250 different employee benefit plans from various trades and industries.
John graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1973 with a degree in Finance from Georgia State University. He and his wife, Delinda, established the Coast Guard Foundation Fallen Heroes Scholarship Fund in memory of John's parents, Captain Frederick Statts and his wife, Sara. This scholarship benefits dependent children of CG members (enlisted and commissioned officers) who lost their lives while serving with the Coast Guard. John later served as a Trustee of the U.S. Coast Guard Foundation and was a member of the Fund's Investment Committee. He was also Chairman of the St. Thomas Episcopal Church Endowment Fund, as well as a member of the vestry.
John’s generous heart was guided by a strong belief that family always comes first. He is survived by his loving wife Delinda Rehberg Statts; sister, Elizabeth McCrea (David, nephews Michael and Robert); daughter, Lauren; son, Pearce (Eileen); son, Willie Bowers (Jennifer); daughter, Ashley Cudd (Michael); and grandchildren, Riley, Charlotte, Adam, Merritt, Callaway, and Walker.
He was preceded in death by his father, Captain Frederick Statts and his mother, Geneva Sara Statts.
Contributions can be made to the Coast Guard Foundation at coastguardfoundation.org in memory of John. There will be a private service and burial.
