Celebrating the life of

Eric Willis

December 04, 1972 - August 07, 2026

Eric Willis

Eric Willis passed away suddenly on August 7, 2026. He was a beloved father, husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend whose curiosity, humor, and generosity left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Eric was a proud alumnus of Benedictine, the University of Georgia, and Armstrong. He treasured running into old friends at BC football games and rarely missed the chance to watch the Bulldogs on Saturdays.

Always curious about what might be around the corner, Eric loved using his “smarty phone” to discover off-the-beaten-path destinations and new restaurants for his family to experience. There was rarely an itinerary in sight, but there was always a Post-it note covered in his unmistakable chicken-scratch handwriting—a loose collection of ideas that somehow came together into adventures only Eric could create.

He was happiest outdoors—gardening, hunting, fishing, hiking, and skiing. He loved visiting National Parks, historical sites, and botanical gardens. What mattered most to Eric was not necessarily where he went or what he did—it was the people with whom he shared those experiences. His greatest adventures were those spent alongside his family and friends, and, of course, with Buddy by his side.

Eric never cared much for the somberness of funerals. He would much rather have people gather to remember the good times, tell funny stories, laugh loudly, and celebrate a life well lived. In his memory, he would encourage all of us to take a trip with loved ones or experience something new. He loved to learn, to explore, and to experience the world. Perhaps the best way to honor him is to continue doing what he loved the most and stay curious. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

A traditional Buddhist Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at 11:00 am followed by a visitation from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm at Fox and Weeks Funeral Home, located at 7200 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, Georgia.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tu Viện Tuệ Minh located at 1428 Pine Barren Rd, Bloomingdale GA 31302 or National Parks Service.
