Joseph Carlos Stringfellow, Jr.
Passed away on July 18, 2026
It is with great sadness that the family of Joseph Carlos Stringellow Jr. announces his passing, surrounded by family, on Saturday, July 18, 2026. Joe was born on September 7, 1962, in Lucedale, Mississippi. He spent most of his childhood in West Palm Beach, Florida before moving to Savannah, Georgia. He served in the U.S. Army and worked as an Electrical Engineer and an Electrical Superintendent, previously at HA Sack company for ten years. Joe was known as a very hard worker, truly always giving his best in everything. He believed in the importance of discipline and perseverance. Joe was a loving husband, eager to provide for his family.
“Carlos”, as Joe was known by many friends, had a great love for his family, his dogs, the outdoors, and riding motorcycles. He loved to travel, seeing God’s country, the mountains and beaches. Surprisingly, Joe could also throw down on the karaoke machine!
Joe was very gifted in a multitude of ways. He both skipped a grade in school and took college classes early while he was still in high school. Joe lived modestly and intentionally. It cannot be overstated how much Joe valued taking care of his family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Carlos Stringfellow, Sr., and his father-in-law, Charles E. Smith Jr.
Surviving are his wife of 23 years, Rebecca Suzanne Stringfellow, daughter, Rebecca Danielle Wood, sons, Alan Wood (Kiania), and Joseph Carlos Stringfellow III, our beloved dog, Athena Bean, his mother, Bobbie DeWitt, sister, Rhonda Mercado (Joe), mother-in-law, Ann Smith, brother -in-law, Eddie Smith (Sheridon), our “adopted son” as we always called him, Andrue Cooper (Elizabeth) and nephews, a great-nephew, and great nieces.
The family would like to acknowledge the great care given by Hospice Savannah, and by his wife Rebecca, his daughter Rebecca Danielle Wood, and his mother-in-law Ann Smith. With all their help, he was able to be cared for in the comfort of his home.
A Memorial Service to honor his life will be on Thursday, July 23rd at Fox and Weeks Chapel on Hodgson Memorial Drive at 4 pm.
The family asks for remembrances be made to Parkinson’s Awareness Research, to help find a cure.

I've known Joe since he lived in Paradise Park , since I was a teenager. I worked with him on many jobs throughout the years . He was a great guy , I thought the world of him . He taught me a lot about electrical . He will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Joe was a good friend to me, we worked several big projects together since 1980 we work together on the catalytics project on President Street... We work together on the Savannah Mall... And we work together with the site company several different times.... we always seem to run into each other on another job.... He was a good friend he will be missed.. goodbye Joe love you man...
