Stephen Stanley Premo, age 74, passed away peacefully on the morning of June 26, 2026, in Crestview, Florida, following a courageous battle with Glioblastoma. He was comforted by the presence of his daughter at his side.

Born on September 2, 1951, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Stephen was the son of the late Harold Leonard Premo and Clare Lillian Premo. Raised in a bustling household as the middle child of seven children, he learned early on the value of family, connection, and community.

Stephen graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1975. He began working for the FFA in his early years, before dedicating the rest of his distinguished career to the Army Corps of Engineers. Beyond his professional achievements, Stephen was defined by his infectious positivity and generous spirit. One of the highlights of his career was working with FEMA and disaster relief programs.

Following his retirement, he was a proud Mason, an active Shriner, and a dedicated "Parrot Head" who embraced life's joyful moments. He channeled his passion for helping others into serving as a Shriner "Road Runner," selflessly volunteering his time to transport children safely to medical care. In addition, he used this time to travel, strengthen his faith, and reconnect with old friends, while fostering relationships with new ones.

To his family, he was a steady source of unconditional love and optimism. His ten beloved grandchildren affectionately called him "Happy," a fitting tribute to his lifelong positive outlook.

Stephen was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Deborah Cannon. His legacy lives on through his children, Stephanie Hough, Rachael Knorr, and Paul Cannon; their respective spouses; and his ten grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a viewing on Monday, July 13, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors Hodgson Chapel in Savannah, Georgia.

A celebration of Stephen’s life will be held on Tuesday, July 14 at Wilmington Island Methodist Church. The memorial gathering will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by the funeral service from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A luncheon will follow immediately in the church’s fellowship hall to share stories and honor a life beautifully lived.
