Paul Charles Hoffman

Paul Charles Hoffman

After a courageous five-and-a-half-year battle with lung cancer, Paul passed away peacefully in his sleep while surrounded by family on Tybee Island, a place he dearly loved. He was born on August 30, 1963, in Savannah to the late George Hoffman and the late Anne Ebberwein Hoffman. He graduated from Benedictine Military School in Savannah in 1981.  He later graduated from the University of Georgia in 1985 with a Bachelor of Arts in English, continued at UGA to pursue his Master's degree in Speech and Communication, and later received his juris doctor from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 1999.  Paul was known for his humor, quick wit, and quiet intelligence. He was a true patriot who loved his country, its Constitution, and, of course, “Them Dawgs.” If you ever shared a beer with him, you know he enjoyed a spirited debate on just about any topic. Paul was also a loyal friend with a heart of gold, someone others could always count on. The strength of his character was reflected in the lifelong friendships he maintained, some dating back to grade school. Becoming a father brought Paul his greatest joy. He adored his daughters and devoted his life to loving, guiding, and supporting them. As a faithful Catholic, Paul’s faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he took an active role in nurturing the spiritual growth of his daughters. To them, and to all who knew him, he truly was the best dad ever. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Ellen Theresa Hoffman.

He is survived by his wife of twelve years, Elizabeth Pharo Hoffman; daughters, Anna Catherine Hoffman and Margaret Elizabeth Hoffman; aunt, Sr. Angela Marie; siblings: Kathleen Noble, George Hoffman (Merle), Mary Zeigler (David), Jeanne O'Brien (Pat), Stephen Hoffman (Tracy). Coming from a large family, Paul also leaves 13 nieces and nephews, many great nieces and nephews, and many loving cousins.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Fox & Weeks, Hodgson Chapel beginning at 4:00 p.m. with a Rosary service to follow at 6:00 p.m. The Funeral mass will be held at The Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist on Friday, June 26, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Greenwich Cemetery.
