Harper Jane Seaman passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026, at the age of five, following a courageous two-year battle with kidney cancer.

Born in Savannah, Georgia, on December 6, 2020, to her devoted parents, Ryan and Lauren (Martin) Seaman, Harper arrived into the world at just 27 weeks. She was a fighter from day one. Incredibly sweet yet never lacking in sass, she left an indelible mark on everyone she ever met with her beautiful smile, infectious laughter, and vibrant spirit.

Harper had a deep, natural love for music, which shone through her singing and the joy she found playing her toy piano and drum set. Books also meant the world to her—especially anything by Eric Carle, many of which she could recite completely by heart. She absolutely loved learning from her teacher, Ms. Leigh, whose lessons and care brought so much joy to her days. As an "OG" Ms. Rachel fan, Harper also tuned in daily, and many of her favorite everyday phrases were proudly learned from the show.

Following her cancer diagnosis, Harper tackled every challenge and setback with an incredible, inspiring grace. She simply wanted to live her life to the fullest. Her journey was made brighter by her healthcare team; she deeply loved her nurses, social workers, doctors, and child life specialists, who helped make her many hospital visits so much more manageable.

Harper’s memory will forever be cherished by her parents, Ryan and Lauren Seaman; her grandparents, David and Susan Martin, Scott Seaman and Zina Egan, and Darwin and Marti Strand; her great-grandmother, Jesann Hendrix; her aunts and uncles, Erin (Martin) and Obadiah Ritchey, Kellie (Martin) and Chris Fogarty, Sean and Kelsey Seaman, and Hayli and Wayne Holliway; and her cousins, Isaiah and Elias Ritchey, Colin and Molly Fogarty, and Rae, Nina, and Hudson Seaman.

A Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 21, 2026, at St. Michael's Catholic Church on Tybee Island.

In lieu of flowers we'd appreciate donations in Harper's name to curechildhoodcancer.org or www.mycampsunshine.com.

GUEST BOOK

Lauren & Ryan - While I have not met you personally, I have been following your journey with Harper via Facebook and through Marti. My heart is absolutely broken for you all. There is nothing that can be said to make the grief less, but that spark you often mention, will live on in your memories. I pray you will find comfort in each other as you navigate each day without your ray of sunshine. Try to hold on to the knowledge that she is fully healed and perfect with our Lord. Please know you have an entire St. Joseph's/Candler family loving you and lifting you up

Our hearts break with yours as we remember the bright light Harper was. While we are grateful Harper no longer suffers and has been healed in her new life with Jesus, we know the hole Harper left in your life is devastating. So many were praying for all of you who you never met. Those prayers continue that you would all feel the presence of God in your lives as He heals, comforts m, loves and strengthens you all. Thank you for sharing Harper with us through your posts. Her light lives on. She was and you are an inspiration for what love can endure. Paul and Jamie Simmons

I did not know Harper personally but have followed her sweet strength through Marti's posts. My prayers are with your family. It is comforting to know that Harper is in the embrace of our Lord.

Her light shined the brightest, when we would see her in the sedation unit. I will always remember singing Ms. Rachel to her as she fell asleep and giving her all the snacks and juice afterwards. Precious girl and wonderful parents. I'm saddened to know she has passed, but boy was she so special. Sending all my love and condolences.

- Felicia McCord, Beaufort, SC

I have prayed for you guys every day for more than two years. As Harper gains her new body in the presence of our Lord I know she is whole but we will miss her terribly. Please know that the prayers will continue until we see her again in eternity.
