Mack Arthur Jordan peacefully joined his Savior, Jesus Christ and was reunited with the love of his life Matra Drake Jordan, May 9, 2026.

Art was born in Macon, GA to the late Mack Lawson Jordan and Kathryn Southard Jordan September 7, 1934.

Art was a proud alumnus of the Old Savannah High School class of 1952, where he stared on the basketball team, leading them to the state tournament 4 years in a row. He also competed in the City of Savannah Recreation League winning the City Championship and being named to the City of Savannah All Star Team. Art was an active alumni and loved attending Savannah High School Reunions and gatherings.

After Savannah high school, Art played basketball at Southern Technical Institute and received his degree in engineering.

After college, Art joined the US Air National Guard and earned his Airman Electronics Certificate.

With his degree and certificate in hand, in 1956, Art began his lifelong career with Dixie Crystal Sugar/Savannah Foods. Art served in many roles for Dixie Crystal, excelling in all. In 1970 Savannah Foods acquired Jim Dandy Dog Food in Birmingham, AL. where Art assumed the role of Plant Manager, where he successfully served until returning to his hometown of Savannah in 1981.

He continued his career with Savannah Foods in Savannah serving in many roles, advancing to Vice President of Production. Art retired in 1997after 41 years of faithful service. The tragic explosion at the Sugar Refinery in 2008 broke Art’s heart for the place and people he loved. Even today, many current employees fondly remember Mr. Art.

Art was a faithful and loyal servant of Jesus Christ, harvesting many souls along his walk of faith. His depth of knowledge of the scriptures was an inspiration to all those around him. He attended Isle of Hope Methodist Church for many years and in his later years, he found a special home at Good Sheppard Savannah.

Art was fortunate to travel both nationally and internationally with his beloved Matra. This included England, Scotland, Australia, China, South Africa, Alaska, and Russia. His other interests included gardening, fishing, gathering with close friends and watching sports.

Art is preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 68 years, Matra, and his niece, April Stephenson.

He is survived) by his daughters Ashley Paige Jordan of Perth, Australia and Pamela Jordan Hussey of Savannah; his sister, Louise Jordan Rhodes; his five grandchildren Philip Ryan Hussey (Emily) of Overland Park KS,  Jordan Michael Sibley (Alice) of Melbourne AU, Brennan Matra Hussey (Reid) of Denver CO, Kristen Nicole Sibley of Perth, AU and Sean Mannion Hussey of Savannah; five great grandchildren, Caitlin, Liam, Aidan, Finnegan, and Daniel.

 A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at the Fox & Weeks Hodgson Chapel.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at the Good Shepherd Savannah at 22 Rose Ave, Savannah GA 31406 (same location as Isle of Hope Baptist Church). A burial will immediately follow the funeral service at Bonaventure cemetery.
