Thomas William Horan

Thomas William Horan, 82, passed away unexpectedly on April 20, 2026, at his home in Savannah, GA.

Born on June 27, 1943, Tom was the son of Joseph Patrick Horan and Thelma (Ey) Horan. Growing up in Frackville, PA he graduated from Immaculate Heart High School in 1961 before proudly serving his country in the United States Navy. Enlisting in June 1961 as a seaman, he went on to excel in electronics where he graduated first in his class. He later served as an Electronics Technician and was honorably discharged as a Petty Officer.

Following his military service, Tom pursued higher education at Union College in Cranford, NJ, where he met his beloved wife, Marianne, in an economics course. He later transferred to Seton Hall University, graduating hoth honors in 1969 with a degree in Accounting.

Tom built a long and accomplished career in finance and accounting. He worked his way through college and after graduation he began working at Arthur Andersen in Public Accounting. He transitioned to industry as a Corporate Controller at International Controls Corporation in Connecticut, eventually relocating to Boca Raton, FL. This ultimately brought him to Savannah, Georgia in 1989 with Great Dane Trailers, where he served as Senior Vice President of Finance until his retirement in late 2008. His dedication, integrity, and work ethic left a lasting impact on colleagues and the organizations he served.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents and his younger brother, William Michael Horan.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Marianne Vajda Horan; his children, Thomas James Horan (Shelley), Kimberly Ann Rhone (Neal), and Michael Patrick Horan (Jordan); and his cherished grandchildren: Nicole Theresa Rhone (19), Merritt Elizabeth Horan (18), Natalie Lindsey Rhone (17), Michael Patrick Horan Jr. (14), and Thomas William Horan (11).

Tom loved nothing more than caring for his family, especially his beloved wife. He told her how much he loved her everyday. In his free time, he enjoyed playing golf, spending time with friends over a game of cards, and relaxing in his favorite recliner. He will be remembered for his humor, kindness, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.

A visitation will begin at 11:00a.m., Friday, May 1, 2026, at Fox & Weeks Hodgon Chapel followed by a Memorial Service 12:00p.m.

GUEST BOOK

Dear Marianne, I am so sorry to hear of Thomas' passing. I was so touched today at the Memorial Service to hear your children and grandchildren speak about what he meant to them. I know you will miss him greatly and hope that your memories and family will keep you warm and embraced. I was also touched to read that he, alone with my husband, graduated from Seton Hall and that it too was the institution where I earned my Masters Degree. A fellow NJ native....and a wonderful life and legacy.
