Celebrating the life of
Kibbie (Skip) Cowart
August 28, 1948 - March 23, 2026
Kibbie “Skip” Cowart, of Savannah, Georgia, passed away on March 23, 2026, after a brief illness while in hospice care. He was 77 years old.
Skip was born on August 28, 1948, in Vidalia, Georgia, to the late Kibbie Cowart Sr. and Pauline Cowart.
Skip spent his younger years working primarily as a painter. Later in life, he became a taxi driver—a role that perfectly suited his gift for storytelling and his outgoing nature. He never met a stranger. He had a deep love for people and conversation, and his presence left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Skip also enjoyed spending time at his favorite watering holes, Cheers and Crow Bar, where he could often be found sharing stories and laughter with friends.
Above all, Skip cherished his role as a grandfather. His three grandchildren brought him immeasurable joy and pride.
Skip was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alice Cowart.
He is survived by his two sons, Matthew Cowart (Marissa) and Lucas Cowart (Ashley); and his grandchildren, Ava, Grady, and Madelyn.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel, 7200 Hodgson Memorial Drive, Savannah, Georgia.
