Celebrating the life of

Susan Lorraine Parsley

July 18, 1948 - March 18, 2026

Susan Lorraine Parsley

Susan Lorraine Parsley, born July 18, 1948, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a life defined by devotion to family, faith, and a deep commitment to helping others.
She was the daughter of Nancy Helen Skinner (Flanagan) and Major James Carl Skinner. As the child of a military officer, Susan experienced a childhood rich in travel and change, living in places as varied as Japan, Panama, Washington state, and Fort Smith, Arkansas. Those early years shaped her adaptability, curiosity, and quiet strength—qualities that stayed with her throughout her life.

Susan earned an Associate Degree in Journalism from the University of Arkansas, Fort Smith. While her professional path took many forms, her true life’s work was caring for others—something she did with consistency, compassion, and grace.
She was a devoted member of Beta Sigma Phi for many years and found special meaning in her work with Retrouvaille, an international program dedicated to restoring marriages. Helping others find their way back to each other was something she believed in deeply.
Susan will be remembered for her kindness, resilience, and unmistakable sense of humor. She loved to travel, spend time with a good book, and care for animals of all kinds—never turning away a creature in need, including, on one memorable occasion, an orphaned squirrel.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Philip Ray Parsley; her daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Moak (Parsley), and son-in-law, Scott Anthony Moak; and her beloved grandchildren, Holly Lorraine Moak and Hayden Prescott Moak.
She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00, Monday, at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Parish. Inurnment will be in Greenwich Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society for Greater Savannah.
